This 1-day assessed course is ideal for workplace first aiders and anyone interested in gaining essential first aid skills for everyday situations.

- Attend our First Aid Refresher course within 2 years of completing this course to renew your certificate, saving both time and cost

More Information
By the end of this course, you will have the confidence to:
- Provide basic life support, including CPR and defibrillation
- Manage foreign body airway obstruction
- Manage a life-threatening bleed, including when to use an arterial tourniquet
- Manage a person in shock
- Recognise and provide first aid treatment for common trauma and medical conditions.
Course Content
Unit standard 6402: Provide basic life support, including:
- DRSABCD action plan
- CPR (adult, child, infant)
- Defibrillator (AED) use
- Choking (adult, child, infant)
- Life-threatening bleeding, including when to use an arterial tourniquet
- Shock
Unit standard 6401: Provide first aid, including:
- Health literacy
- Fractures and dislocations
- Burns
- Soft tissues injuries
- Poisoning
- Asthma
- Diabetic emergencies
- Seizure
- Chest pain
- Stroke
- Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
Prerequisites & requirements
Attendees must be:
- 14 years or older
- Able to kneel on the floor and perform CPR for a minimum of two minutes
- Able to complete assessments in English (practical, written and verbal are used in this course).
