Minimum qualification requirement for a workplace first-aider valid for 2 years
Take our First Aid Refresher course within 2 years of completing this course for a time and cost saving re-certification
Eligible for NZQA unit standards 6401 and 6402.

Course Content

Recognise and provide first aid for:

(Covers NZQA 6401)

Bleeding and shock

Burns

Poisoning

Heart attacks and chest pain

Strokes

Seizures

Fractures and dislocations

Soft tissues injuries

Allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)

Asthma

Diabetes

Recognise and provide basic life support including:

(Covers NZQA 6402)

Scene and hazard management

Patient positioning and assessment

CPR (adults, children, infants)

Defibrillator (AED) use

Choking (adults, children, infants)

General care

Prerequisites & requirements

Attendees must be:

14 years or older
able to kneel on the floor to do CPR and complete assessments in English
