By the end of this course, you will have the confidence to:
- Provide basic life support, including CPR and defibrillation
- Manage a foreign body airway obstruction
- Manage a life-threatening bleed, including when to use an arterial tourniquet
- Manage a person in shock
Course Content
Unit standard 6402: Provide basic life support, including:
- DRSABCD
- CPR (adult, child, infant)
- Defibrillator (AED) use
- Choking (adult, child, infant)
- Life-threatening bleeding, including when to use an arterial tourniquet
- Shock
Prerequisites & requirements
Attendees must be:
- 14 years or older
- Able to kneel on the floor and perform CPR for a minimum of two minutes
- Able to complete assessments in English (practical, written and verbal assessments are used in this course).
