Our e-learning course is designed for individuals in a position where contact with people under the influence of drugs and alcohol is common.

- Introduction to signs and symptoms and how you, as the first aider, can help recognise and treat the basics, to life-threatening medical emergencies

This 2-3 hour e-learning course is ideal for people who wish to improve their confidence in the identification and management of an intoxicated person. The in-depth modules and activities will gain you:
- An awareness of vulnerability in the context of intoxication
- An understanding of how to keep intoxicated people safe from harm
- Some common first aid skills that will help you manage intoxicated people
- An understanding of when to seek further help or support

This course will provide knowledge and skills for those who encounter individuals that have consumed alcohol, experiencing adverse effects from a substance, or have taken a combination of substances and now require assistance.
What this course covers:
- Identify the signs, symptoms and stages of intoxication.
- Identify the three classes of drugs, and their effects.
- Identify when/how intoxication can make people vulnerable.
- Apply intervention tools to prevent further harm.
- Apply common first aid skills to manage intoxicated people.
- Utilise DRSABCD to assess and manage an unresponsive person.
- Identify the key principles of CPR and defibrillation.
- Identify when medical attention or further support is required and what other help is available.
This course is recommended for those 16 years or older to complete our Management of an Intoxicated Person e-learning course. You do not need any prior training or experience to complete this course.
