This 1-day course is for those who need advanced resuscitation skills and are responding to resuscitation incidents in teams.

Ideal for nurses, anaesthetic technicians, radiographers, hospital staff, dentists, and others who may require resuscitation skills in their workplace where backup isn't far away
Our Resuscitation Level 4 & Level 5 courses meets the requirements for Advanced ALS as endorsed by the RCGPNZ
All our tutors have Operational (Emergency Ambulance) experience
Can be renewed every 2 years to keep your Level 4 certificate and skills up-to-date.
Mask wearing, social distancing and contact tracing may be required depending on alert levels at the time of course.

In this course, our in-depth lessons and scenario-based activities will give you:

the confidence and skills to use more advanced resuscitation equipment and techniques available for use within your workplace

a Resuscitation Level 4 certificate valid for 2 years upon successful completion, and 8 CPD credit points

skills that meet the requirements for Advanced ALS as endorsed by the RCGPNZ

Confidence in establishing team behaviour and the importance of roles during a cardiac arrest.

Course Content

Recognise and provide advanced resuscitation including:

Scene management

Adult, child and infant collapse

AED

Basic rhythm recognition

Recognition of a deteriorating patient

Manually open an airway, with head tilt, chin lift and jaw thrust

Suction

Oropharyngeal airway

Bag-to-mask ventilation

Oxygen from an oxygen cylinder

Laryngeal mask airway (or igel supraglottic airway)

Principles of ET intubation

Awareness of emergency drug use and IV access

Optional (please inform our tutors on the day): IM adrenalin for dentists or vaccinators, management of pregnant women for midwives/dentists, asthma with and without MDI and nebulized drugs for dentists.

Prerequisites & requirements

Attendees must be:

14 years or older
certified at Resuscitation Level 3 or equivalent
physically capable of kneeling on the floor to do CPR
able to complete assessments in English
